There is nothing like a conversation about politics to get me running in the other direction. Away from the bashing and the divisiveness.
Life isn’t about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain.

I am all about changing that!
Sometimes it is so hard to look at life honestly.
To see the flaws and the shortcomings in the path you have chosen. To deal with the hard things that life inevitably brings your way…
It’s easier to just zone out – escape through TV, the internet, a book or even food. And shut yourself off from feeling like you are a failure or not good enough.
If you are struggling with this issue, you may see some of this in yourself:
- You often feel discontent or uncomfortable
- You put a great deal of your effort into fitting in
- You avoid conflict
- You dislike change
- You feel overwhelmed by your responsibilities
- You never seem to meet your expectations of yourself
- You feel negative or others tell you that you are
And yet some people are so fully alive!
You feel it whenever you are around them. They seem filled with a sense of power, joy and serenity… all at the same time. They seem deeply involved in whatever they encounter and they bring their entire selves to everything.
This is Living Fully. It’s the quality of 100% aliveness. You’ve probably experienced it at times yourself. You likely did it a lot when you were a child. It’s when your body, mind and soul are all in synch and focused on the present moment.
Living fully matters a great deal for the world. It’s only when you and I and those around us are Living Fully that we bring to the world all that we could be. And the world needs that.
The actions you take each day and the actions you do not take matter – they make a difference for us all.
When you approach your days with courage and excitement to do your best, when you treat others with love and kindness, when you are attentive to the decisions and choices that you make, then you are making the world better in the very real sense.
People that are Living Fully are happy. Their lives are filled with pleasure, satisfaction and meaning.
Pleasure brings you positive emotions and you may be an expert in making this happen in your life. One secret to happiness though is to seek pleasure in moderation.
Because you also need time and space for satisfaction. Satisfaction requires you to work for it…. a job well done, for example. And when you add meaning on top of that… you base decisions on making a difference and how you are affecting others.. you intentionally impact the world or one tiny piece of it in a positive way.
You can live more fully by embracing some simple ideas. Try one or a few of these…
|Have more fun…||Be curious…|
|Eliminate “shoulds”…||Stay focused…|
|Learn mindfulness…||Create more…|
|Use fantasy wisely…||Pay attention to yourself (especially yearnings and longings)…|
|Learn to say No…||Say Yes more…|
|Laugh more…||Be intentional about everything…|
|Slow down…||Monitor your decisions…|
|Be flexible…||Explore your current habits…|
|Try not to multi-task…||Celebrate small successes…|
|Try new things in an experimental way…||And most of all… learn to embrace change.|
That last one may be the most important, but I also know that it’s the hardest. Change is both scary and exciting. It is also necessary.
The bottom line is that the more you engage in life, the more energy you will have - to use on new thoughts, getting out of the box and having more adventures.
Living Fully comes naturally for a few people. But you may have to work very hard to make it happen…
And when you do, the world is an amazing place!
You may need extra support to make the kinds of changes I am describing here. You may need an impartial voice or a reflective person who is willing to tell you the truth. Or someone who will help you find the parts of yourself that you have neglected. Or help you process the emotions that come from doing something new.
I would love to be your guide through the maze of change. Let’s have a no-obligation phone conversation about whether this would be a good idea for you… just click the button below and send me a message to get that scheduled.
One of the most difficult personal qualities to nurture in today’s culture is that of being intentional. Intention requires living a life that is based on awareness, contemplation, and planning. Those of us who try to do this are constantly challenged by the pace of life around us and by the pressure to be spontaneous and fast…
Finding out why you’re here on this magical adventure doesn’t have to be an arduous task of self-reflection.
